SOMETHING'S FISHY IN OMBUDSMAN ORDER VS CORONA!

There’s something FISHY in the complaints against Chief Justice Renato Corona before the Office of the Ombudsman.

In its latest post, rappler.com, home ground of blogger Raissa Robles, reported that Chief Justice Renato Corona had given permission to the Office of the Ombudsman to access his bank records, thereby leading to the discovery of $10 million he allegedly has in some banks.

Rappler quoted the waiver in Corona’s SALN which says: “I hereby authorize the Ombudsman or his duly (authorized) representative to obtain and secure from all appropriate government agencies, including the Bureau of Internal Revenue, such documents that may show my assets, liabilities, net worth, business interests and financial connections…”

Then, WHY are the complainants against Corona PRIVATE INDIVIDUALS and not the Office of the Ombudsman itself?

Assuming that the waiver was successfully applied to government agencies and data for $10 million in deposits was indeed uncovered, the complainants against Corona before the Office of the Ombudsman should have been the agency-source of the information.

But as released to the Inquirer by the Office of the Ombudsman, the complainants were PRIVATE PERSONS.

How the hell did this happen? Was evidence, if any, uncovered by the waiver and given to the complainants by the Office of the Ombudsman? If yes, was it legal?

Rappler said the Office of the Ombudsman gets access to bank records through the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC), adding that under the law, banks are required to report to the body transactions exceeding P500,000.

Now, think about these, boys and girls:

Whatever Corona has in his dollar accounts, it’s safe to assume that he accumulated it through time and in several deposits. Why was he never asked to explain his dollar savings in the almost two years of Pnoy’s administration?

Considering his publicly-declared dislike of Corona, Pnoy would have hungrily grabbed the opportunity to announce such an eventuality if indeed there had been something irregular about the Chief Justice.

And take note, guys, after Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales’ order to Corona to explain the supposed $10 million was released to the Inquirer WITHOUT DETAILS, she still won’t be SPECIFC as to what she’s talking about.

TINAPUNAN  NA NAMAN NG PUTIK  ang reputasyon ni Corona nang hindi man lang sinasabi kung ano mismo ang dapat niyang ipaliwanag!
