NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT SCARBOROUGH SHOAL!

A personal friend of mine confided to me that he’s getting more and more concerned about the standoff between the Philippines and China at Scarborough Shoal.

Even if I’m not a military man, I immediately told him without thinking there’s NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT, including the possibility of war.

For the simple reason that China IS FULLY AWARE that she has NO ALLY in her highly questionable movements in the South China Sea, which includes Scarborough Shoal.

And that we have a mutual defense treaty with the US in case any country attacks us.

Other countries, especially those who have their own concerns in cur country like our trading partners, would not want to see their interests jeopardized by armed Chinese aggression.

And risk the possibility of the entry of other countries into any conflict.

So even if China has the biggest number of soldiers on Earth and a well-armed military, she knows she will NEVER WIN against the rest of the world, whether
in a shooting war or on the diplomatic front.

China is not STUPID to WASTE men and logistics, plus risk WORLD ISOILATION, now or at any other given time.

Personally, the Scarborough Shoal is an isolated UNLAWFUL ACT by some criminals in the Chinese military.

The Chinese poachers, or should I say THIEVES, who had triggered the standoff, probably want more of the giant clams, corals and live sharks which they had earlier caught and fled with.

That’s why their trying to scare off our Navy and Coast Guard personnel with their ships.

Once the Chinese see that they can’t intimidate us, and the US and other countries start speaking up in our favor or for the tension to end, 20-1 they’ll readily back off.

When the US categorically said it will help us if necessary over the persistent ownership claim by China of the Spratly Islands, China immediately expressed readiness to a diplomatic solution.

That will happen again with Scarborough Shoal. Of curse, prayer is still the best weapon but don’t let the standoff affect you.

Couldn't have said it better, Boyet.

RUELLE ALBERT CASTRO
Read the whole blog. I think it's excessive to solely pin the blame for the power problem in Mindanao to the current administration if the starting point is the rehabilitation of the hydropower plant. The rehabilitation was a continuing problem even before the administration came in so maybe they should not be the only one to take the blame.

ENCHONG JUANATAS
Dapat ilagay ang Malacanang sa mindanao! Ewan ko lang kung tumagal cila doon!

JOSE LUIS LEGARDA
The ‘moro-moro’ energy summit did not actually resolve anything or even set any goals. it was all a platform for Abnoy to tell the Mindanaoans that they should pay more. As always,  Abnoy is just once again washing his hands as he does best. There was certainly no shortage of blame and excuses as always. It is not impossible for Congress to pass a special law circumventing the EPIRA, giving Abnoy the authority to build a power plant in Mindanao that will be later sold to the private sector. Government’s role is to lead the way and serve and protect the people. But as always, Abnoy will take the easy way out of anything and pass everything to the people. Makes one wonder, whatever happened to the investors who are supposed to have confidence in the Abnoy admin?

DAANG MATUWID

Paano sila kikita?

RICKY MONFORT of Bacolod City
Boyet, the problem with the administration of Aavnoy is no action until the problem arises. Example is this current situation in Mindanao. When he first started in office 2 years ago, he could have started being pro active about the problem that he knew will become worse if he doesn't act on it. He waited until it became worse and now, he's not giving the Mindanaoans any choice but a more polluted and more expensive solution. If he had acted on this problem when he started his stint as leader of the country, he would have been more than halfway above the problem. What did he do the past two years? NOTHING! And all he did, with his lapdogs, was cancel all the good and suspicious contracts of the previous administration and blame them for the current problem. This is the kind of attitude Avnoy and his administration has been showing the public ever since he took over GMA. Tthat's why nothing has been done to improve the economy or alleviate the plight of the poor. It's all about giving poor excuses and blaming the past!

ED PUNZAL of Tagig
Geez you people are so intelligent that why not do something about the problems? You talk as if you are fully aware of the real situation and conditions in Mindanao. You are only good in making sarcastic comments and saying nasty things for you are all opposed to the present administration. Besides, the President is doing everything in addressing the problems in Mindanao, so just wait and see if something concrete comes out of the solutions being given by the administration to arrest the problems.

FELIX MEDIAVILLO
Let's wait and see "if something concrete comes out?" If nothing positive comes out, shall we still wait and see? Time is gold, this is not the time for Noynoying.

‎"You have to pay more because this is the reality of economics, not the rhetoric of politics. Everything has its price.” SO HAVING YOU AS OUR PRESIDENT FOR 6 LONG DREADED YEARS IS THE PRICE WE HAVE TO ENDURE, is that it?

SALVADOR OLEO of Iligan City
Tama ka, bro. Nagsabi pa, pay more or live with insufficient energy.  Iyon ba ang solution sa kahirapan, lalo niyang pahirapan ang taga- Mindanao? May Maria Cristina Falls, may Mt.

JOEL AGUDO
Pnoy has all the more given Mindanaoans good reason to reject him and his LP  in the 2013 elections.

JOSEPH  OPULENCIA of Zamboanga City
Niloko na, nanakot pa! He must look for a solution, not threaten....

JONAS RICAFRENTE MOJICA
The reality is, he has no time for actions for solutions. He will just blame GMA for that matter. He's busy in manipulating what will favor conviction of GMA, Ccorona, Abalos and others.

Buking talaga si Raissa Robles. And buking din ang rappler.com which seems to be dedicated to the proposition that CJ Corona is corrupt, ergo he must be removed at all cost and install his chief rival at the SC. The problem, however, is that a counter-story such as what ABS-CBN America just did on the supposed luxurious apartment of Charina Corona will not make it into the yellow media which blasted the story of CJ Corona's alleged US properties earlier. Ang makakaalam lang ang mga taong may access to the Internet. Will ABS-CBN in Manila publicize in full the story of its American correspondent?

PNOY BLACKMAILING MINDANAOANS, PROTECTING INCOMPETENTS!

Two things are getting clearer and clearer as the Mindanao power crisis drags on:

Pnoy is BLACKMAILING MINDANAOANS into paying more for electricity to private power firms while PROTECTING THE INCOMPETENTS who have either MISEARBLY FAILED or DELIBERATELY IGNORED the problem since his administration took over.

In the Mindanao power summit, Pnoy bluntly told the participants: “There are only two choices: pay a little more for energy, or live with the rotating brownouts.”

Pnoy DID NOT IDENTIFY even one person who must explain why the power problem worsened to crisis proportions. But he REPEATEDLY SAID, , LIKE A BROKERN CD, that Mindanaoans should pay more for electricity so that private investors will come in to ensure a steady power supply.

Look at these excerpts from his speech in the summit as quoted in at least two leading broadsheets today, April 14:

“The simple truth is: you will have to pay more.”
“You have to pay a real price for a real service. … You have to pay a little more for the current and future health of the energy sector in Mindanao.” “Prices will increase; and you need to play your part.” “Paying a little more for energy will enable us to ensure a stable supply of power for the future of the region.” “We have to get more plants here … But how can you entice anyone to invest if their generating cost is more than their selling cost?”

Pnoy revealed that Mindanao’s energy production capacity is 1,280 megawatts (MW) but peak demand is at 1,300 MW, resulting in a 20 MW shortage and the absence of the 150 MW reserve margin.

He had no explanation for the shortage, and did not name who was responsible for it.

At least three solutions were brought up by Pnoy in the summit – the P2.6 billion rehabilitation of the Agus 6 hydroelectric plant, the P7.24 billion rehabilitation of river basins and the long-delayed P6-billion rehabilitation of the Agus-Pulangi stations.

But Pnoy did not say WHY all these HAVE NOT BEEN DONE in the almost two years that he has been president.

Energy Sec. Jose Rene Almendras admitted that ”We assume the responsibility that we have failed. That is my responsibility. That is my failure. We had plans, we did very good planning, we were unable to execute the plans in the appropriate timing that it was supposed to be done. There were a lot of challenges.”

But remember, people, Almendras was IMMEDIATELY CLEARED by Malacanang of any liability for the crisis when it started getting national attention. Neither did he reveal; what those challenges were!

To Mindanaoans and to everyone else:  There’s a LOT MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE in the power crisis. Insisting on finding out who’s to blame and a LOT MORE DETAILS to justify the hell you’re going through, and will plunge deeper into, once you start paying higher power bills.

If nobody will be accountable for the Mindanaa power crisis, NOBODY ELSE will be held responsible by Pnoy’s government for any other power crisis ANYWHERE in the future. And we, the helpless consumers, will have to bear all the bullshit!

I never even knew the name Raissa Robles till she became popular as a basher of Corona. She has no credibility whatsoever as a journalist because of her one-sidedness. Any journalist worth his salt will thoroughly research everything before presentation. She is just bold and indiscriminate with her blogging because the law on libel hasn't been successfully tested yet when it comes to cyberspace.

STRIKE 2 FOR RAISSA ROBLES!

This reaction by one of our readers to our blog, “A HARD SLAP ON RAISSA ROBLES’ FACE,” gives a deeper look into the malice behind Robles’ blgos on Charina Corona.

From: JULIET NERIDA ROSALES of Paranaque:
That's what I tweeted her. The problem with her article WAS SHE ONLY CITED THE EXPENSE, NOT THE INCOME. THEN, SHE REPLIED TO ME, TO SHOW PROOF OF INCOME. I TOLD HER THAT IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE HER JOB AS AN INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALIST AS SHE CLAIMS. The mere fact that she's (Charina) a PT in the US shows she has income.

I don’t know Ms. Rosales personally, people. But consider these:

Ms. Rosales gave her full name when she posted the comment. She did not use an alias or hide under anonymity. That means she’ll stand by it in case of denial by Robles.

Ms. Rosales narrated only the specific circumstances which led to her comment. She did not accuse Robles of anything. She did not include any unrelated details. She even indicated how she communicated with Robles, by Twitter. No malice on her part.

It was indeed Robles’ job to find out the possible income of Charina. Any legitimate or professional journalist knows this, or should know this. The BURDEN OF PROOF IS ALWAYS ON THE ACCUSER, NOTTHE ACCUSED.

Anybody who says he or she is a journalist and that it was Charina’s responsibility to disclose her earnings to disprove Robles’ blog is a FAKE!.

Since Ms. Rosales posted her comment several hours ago, on a repost of our blog by another Facebook group. I have yet to receive a comment saying that she has an axe to grind against Robles.

And as I’ve pointed out earlier, Robles NEVER CAME OUT with how much a physical therapist like Charina makes in the US in all her blogs which raised suspicions on her financial capacity to buy a home in California which detractors insist is actually owned by her father, Chief Justice Renato Corona.

Again, anybody correct me if I’m, wrong.

I won’t speculate on anything, ladies and gentlemen. You be the judge. Let me just repeat: If ever you decide to read Robles’ works, THINK A MILLION TIMES FIRST before you even consider anything she says as true or accurate or logical.

A HARD SLAP ON RAISSA ROBLES' FACE!

Here’s SOLID, INDISPUTABLE PROOF that Charina Corona can afford to buy, and is the OWNER of, the California, USA home which accusers of her father, Chief Justice Renato Corona, persist as his or was bought under DUBIOUS TERMS and conditions using her as a dummy.

From a report by NADIA TRINIDAD of the ABS-CBN North America News Bureau (which I am quoting in full):

Given her work as a physical therapist, Chief Justice Renato Corona’s daughter Charina can afford to buy a house in Roseville, California where she is now based.

A report from ABS-CBN North America News Bureau showed that the house which blogger-journalist Raissa Robles wrote about is a “starter home” and not a lavish one as some quarters had alleged.

Based on aboveallhouseplans.com, “a starter home implies the home can be built on a low budget for a first-time home owner. Sometimes they are called 'cost buster' meaning a great deal of planning has gone into the design to eliminate waste.”

Based on the US Labor Department, a physical therapist earns at least $79,830 a year or P3.5 million a year. This supports earlier statements from Corona’s camp that Charina can buy a house on her own. Corona, who is going through an impeachment trial, said he does not own the property.

The ABS-CBN North American Bureau tried to get Charina’s statement, but she refused to answer.

The house is worth $269,500. Charina made a 10% downpayment and she pays the balance every month. The balance is payable in 30 years.

According to California real estate expert and lawyer Norberto Reyes, Roseville is one of the many communities in the US greatly affected by the foreclosure crisis that started in 2006.

Costs of houses slipped by almost half because of the economic crisis. Charina bought the house in 2008.

“This might be a home that's suitable for a young married couple just starting out. You know, low- to middle-income. It is by no means a luxurious property,” Reyes said.

Based on a title obtained by the bureau, Charina also signed an inter-spousal grant deed for the property, which means she is the sole owner of the house. Reyes said, however, that this is common in the US.

“It's not uncommon for married couples to enter into an agreement whether formal or otherwise, that certain property would be considered separate property of one spouse instead of community property even though that property may have been acquired during the time of the marriage. That's not uncommon at all,” Reyes said.  30

Now, think about these, ladies and gentlemen:

Raissa Robles cited documents and other data in her blog that cast serious doubt on the financial capability of Charina to buy the home. For those who missed it, Robles even used the purchase as a justification for the opening of Corona’s dollar accounts.

But she NEVER CAME OUT in her blog with how much can a physical therapist earn in the US.

Any writer worth his or her salt would have readily asked that question, since it’s OBVIOUSLY RELATED to her blogs. So the question now is WHY DIDN’T SHE? Anybody correct me if I’m wrong.

If Robles will say it was an oversight on her part, considering how good she supposedly is, I’ll readily comment: Tell it to the marines. If she’ll insist on the accuracy of her blogs and dare say the ABS-CBN report was erroneous, then she had better have airtight proof and very, very credible sources.

If Robles won’t comment, then it will be UNDENIABLE PROOF that she had been into INTRIGUES ALL ALONG in writing her Charina blogs with the VULGAR GOAL of helping DEMONIZE Chief Justice Corona in the public mind.

Take your pick, ladies and gentlemen.

I just sincerely hope that everyone will be VERY, VERY CAREFUL from now on before believing in whatever Robles will say against Corona.
