PNOY'S COWARDICE AND ARROGANCE TOWARDS MEDIA!

Pnoy again lambasted media for what he called its daily negativism of his administration despite his purported achievements during the anniversary celebration of TV Patrol.

He even ARROGANTLY but COWARDLY, and I mean every letter of these two adjectives, lambasted TV Patrol anchor and former Vice President Noli de Castro – hitting the man without naming him but giving descriptions which can only refer to De Castro like having been a former government official for six years.

So allow me, ladies and gentlemen, to defend not only De Castro but my former colleagues in media as a whole (I’m a former senior editor of the Journal Group of Publications).

Media’s primary job is to report WHAT HAS HAPPENED or WHAT IS HAPPENING. They broadcast or write about what they ACTUALLY saw or see, NOT WHAT Pnoy or any other person want the people to see or hear about in media.

LEGALLY, MORALLY and ETHICALLY, Pnoy has NO RIGHT WHATSOEVER to CONTROL or INFLUENCE media on what and what should not come out in the newspapers or be aired on radio and TV.

HINDI NA KASALANAN ng media kung MAS MARAMI ang PALPAK o MALI sa mga pinaggagagawa o pinagsasasabi ni Pnoy o ng mga tauhan nya. Lalong HINDI TRABAHO ng media na TURUAN MUNA SILA ng gagawin bago magulat ang  mga ito.

If Pnoy wants more positive news about him, then HE MUST DO MORE GOOD THINGS than bad. How he does it is his problem, not media’s.

If he wants positive news about him daily, then he had better work and do good things daily. Media WILL NOT LIE for him just because he is the President of the country.

He claims accomplishments and achievements which are not given prominence and media, unlike negative stories against him and his government.

For those who are not so familiar with media work, the prominence and length given to a story before it is printed or is aired DEPENDS ON, primarily, the  SPECIFICS and VOLUME of the details and the issue.

Mas detalyado at mas napapanahon ang paksa ng storya, mas pinalalaki at binibigyang importansiya sa media.

Pero kung ang sinasabi lamang sa istorya ay bilyun-bilyong piso na ang nagastos sa ganun o ganitong proyekto, o milyun-milyon na ang nakikinabang  at naipagawa na ganito at ganun SUBALIT WALA NI ISANG PANGALAN ng nakikinabang o EKSAKTONG LOKASYON ng diumano’y proyekto, WALA itong karapatan na maging malaking balita sa dyaryo, radio o telebisyon.

KAHIT NA SI PNOY o sinumang maging presidente pa ng bansa ang magpahayag nito.

Some media people may be abusing the profession, yes.

But that does not give Pnoy a FREE PASS to attack the integrity of the profession and its members as a WHOLE and get away with it anytime he wants.

Unless Pnoy and his minions are IGNORANT ENOUGH not to know, complaints against media people can be relayed directly to the top editors and officials of the newspaper or radio or TV station.

Even to the National Press Club or to the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas.

Sa halip na BASTUSIN ang kinaiinisang taga-media sa harap ng maraming tao, pangalanan man ito o hindi.

Trabaho lang ang ginagawa ng media, walang personalan. Kung may magkamali man o umabuso, hindi nangangahulugan na pare-pareho na silang lahat. At lalong HINDI MATATAKOT ang media kaninuman at kailanan, maging sa presidente ng bansa, na BUMATIKOS kung kinakailangan.

Complaints or charges can be filed against us if we get abusive. But if Pnoy thinks he can intimidate or scare media into BLIND SUBMISSION by humiliation or any other means, he’s having his WORST NIGHTMARE.

The Sandiganbayan has officially declared it will not issue a new arrest warrant for former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo (GMA) for the plunder case which has just been filed against her.

Despite the clamor of the Office of the Ombudsman which filed the case.

The Sandiganbayan said it will not issue a warrant against GMA until the Ombudsman has resolved her motion for reconsideration (MR), which is PROVIDED FOR BY LAW but was SHAMELESSLY IGNORED by the Ombudsman.

Strike 2 na ito para kay Pnoy.

Una ay ang pagbibigay ng piyansa kay GMA dahil naman sa kahinaan ng ebidensiya ng testigo laban sa kanya sa kaniyang kasong electoral sabotage.

Hats off to the Sandiganbayan for not giving in to pressure and sticking to the rule of law.

But you want to know what’s alarming, guys?

It’s the DICTATORIAL MENTALITY of Pnoy and his government which is UNDENIABLY EMERGING in his obsession to make GMA suffer.

Strictly speaking, Pnoy is NOT SUPPOSED to interfere in decisions in the Judiciary since it is a co-equal and separate branch form the Executive, whch he heads as President.

But in a comment Thursday night,. Pnoy lambasted the Pasay City judge who granted bail to GMA for asking the IMPOSSIBLE from the government prosecutors.

Pnoy said no one else could have corroborated or proven the statement of the witness that he heard GMA allegedly order former Maguindanao Gov. Andal Ampatuan to cheat in the 2007 polls since NOBODY ELSE WAS PRESENT.  

In effect, Pnoy is saying that the witness’ testimony is GOSPEL-TRUTH regardless of anything like solid proof and credibility, and should be taken hook, line and sinker.

Kumbaga, iyun  ang dapat paniwalaan at sundin. Diktador lang ang may ganitong takbo ng utak.

Ombudsman prosecutors are well-aware of the right of the accused to a motion for reconsideration before a case is filed. But not only did they ignore it, they even had the stomach to ask the Sandiganbayan to order GMA’s arrest based on the plunder case they had filed.

AN ILLEGAL ARREST, a known practice in a dictatorship, had their request been granted.

IN FAIRNESS TO GMA...

As expected, attacks on the grant of bail to former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo (GMA) surfaced even before she could get out of her hospital arrest at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center.

So in fairness to GMA, and for those who still believe that we’re in a democracy and should continue living in a democracy, let’s set the record straight:

Our law clearly states that an accused is PRESUMED INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY .Mrs. Arroyo HAS NOT BEEN CONVICTED by any court of the electoral sabotage case, and any other raps, she is facing.

It’s only Malacanang, a handful of government officials and a few groups who CATEGORICALLY AND CONSISTENTLY claim that she is guilty, corrupt, deserves to go to jail and the like.

For them, it’s guilty until proven innocent.

So to DEMONIZE her round-the-clock in media is not only being GROSSLY UNFAIR but more so being UNPROFESSIONAL and UNCHRISTIAN.

PISO ISANG MILYON, kung si Pnoy o sinuman sa mga tuta niya ang  derechahang tatawaging corrupt o magnanakaw o anupamang panlalait, tiyak na magwawala agad at idedemanda ang may kagagawan.

For those who don’t know, the lone witness against GMA in the poll sabotage case ADMITTED that he ONLY OVERHEARD her asking former Maguindanao Gov. Andal Ampatuan Sr. that she wants a 12-0 win for her senatorial bets in the 2007.

The witness admitted that he did not hear GMA CATEGORICALLY order Ampatuan to cheat,

For the plunder case recently filed against GMA by the Office of the Ombudsman, reports said the charge sheet DID NOT CLAIM or show proof that she pocketed the PCSO funds in question.

Enriching oneself by pocketing public funds is the top requirement for plunder.

Under the law, an accused has the right to file a motion for reconsideration (MR) within 10 working days if the Ombudsman resolves that a case must be filed before the Sandiganbayan.

The Ombudsman can only file the case if the accused did not file an MR or after the motion is resolved in a reinvestigation.

However, the Office of the Ombudsman filed the case without even informing GMA of its resolution and without giving her the chance to file an MR.

Kung sa inyo mangyari ito, papayag kayo? Tatahimik na lang ba kayo>?

 I’m not saying that GMA is innocent. I will; never say that she is innocent. What I’ve stated are FACTS.

Until a court of law finds GMA guilty of anything, she does not deserve to be SWEEPINGLY called or described by any DEHUMANIZING NAME OR ADJECTIVE.

If ever she gets convicted, then by all means call her whatever you like.

But until then, she deserves the respect and courtesy ALL OF US expect from each other at any given time and place.

A person’s guilt is NOT PROVEN BY PRESS RELEASES ALONE. Malacanang is NOT THE JUDGE for who is corrupt or not. It’s the court.

We are a government, a country of laws and not of men. If the law will only be how we and the government want it, then we had better start a funeral for democracy.

And ask the New People’s Army to come down from the mountains, or welcome China or Russia with wide-open arms for their takeover of our country. 30

There will be MIND-BOGGLING or OUTSTANDING data of supposed accomplishments of various government agencies. Through all these, DON’T FORGET TO LOOK FOR SPECIFICS.

Remember, Pnoy’s word is NOT GOSPEL TRUTH.

Because that’s what a SONA should be… WHAT HAS BEEN DONE by Pnoy and the results, and NOT WHAT HE PLANS TO DO.

Kung BULAG NATING PANINIWALAAN BILANG KATOTOHANANN ang anumang sasabihin ni Pnoy sa kaniyang SONA, kahit WALANG MALINAW na pruweba, WALA NANG PIPIGIL sa kaniya o sa kaniyang mga tauhan para LOKOHIN TAYO NG LOKOHIN.
