MURDER AS WARNING TO LUISITA FARMERS!

The murder of Dutch missionary Willem Geertman, who had been helping Hacienda Luista farmers in their fight for land reform, appears more of a warning sign than a robbery.

First and foremost: A journalist who tried to run after the killers to get the license plate of their motorbike said he does not recall seeing the, flee with anything that could have contained Geertman’s money.

Reports later said the killers fled with Geertman’s bag containing P1.2 million. But the source of that information WAS NOT IDENTIFIED.

Second, Geertman had just come from Metrobank. If the motive was robbery, the killers could have just trailed him, blocked his vehicle and held him up without necessarily killing him.

Criminals want to commit the lightest crime possible when they carry out an illegal act.

But Geertman was shot in front of his office, in broad daylight and while kneeling. The witness said the triggerman, who did not bother to cover his face, even held Geertman before firing.

Obviously, the killers wanted Geertman’s murder to be seen and talked about by everybody instead of carrying it out when nobody is around so that nobody can recognize them.

Third, Geertman’s murder comes at a time when Luisita farmers had been aggressively demanding for the awarding of their share of the hacienda’s land., to the point of going to Pnoy’s home in Quezon City.

Fourth: It’s been more than six months since the Supreme Court ruled that the hacienda should be distributed t the farmers. But up to now, Pnoy’s government can’t even give a tentative date on when will the farmers get their land.

The paperwork for the distribution has hardly started.

Fifth: The Supreme Court, led by then Chief Justice Renato Corona, rejected the demand of Pnoy’s family and relatives that they be paid several billion pesos for the hacienda.

The Supreme Court pegged their compensation at less than P200 million.

Pnoy’s family and relatives filed a motion for reconsideration. That motion is still pending but the farmers are firm in demanding their land IMMEDIATEY.

If Geertman’s murder is not a warning to the Luisita farmers, then the police will go all-out and non-stop in capturing the killers. It shouldn’t be a tough case since there was a witness, or probably witnesses since ot happened in broad daylight.

And the triggerman DID NOT COVER HIS FACE.

If  the police will move slower than a turtle, until the case grows cold, Luisita farmers had better be on 24-hour guard.
