IMPEACHMENT TRIAL RESUMPTION VERY INTERESTING!

The resumption of the impeachment trial of Chief Justice Renato Corona beginning Monday will be VERY INTERESTING!

Corona counsel Karen Jimeno announced in a press conference that a subpoena has been served to Justice Secretary Leila de Lima to testify as a witness for the defense.

Jimeno said De Lima will testify on the temporary restraining order issued by the Supreme Court on the watch list order against former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo (GMA) which the secretary “defied.”

If De Lima was bold enough to go against the Supreme Court, let’s see if she’ll be as tough as that with the Senate Impeachment Court.

Let’s see how the prosecution will oppose De Lima’s testimony for the defense, since it’s a fact that GMA and her husband Mike were barred from leaving the country on De Lima’s orders despite the SC TRO.

Corona’s lawyers also told media that they will not allow the Chief  Justice to take the witness stand.

Defense lawyer Jose Roy III said: “It doesn’t make sense. There is no evidence. The Chief Justice will just testify to satisfy a sense of curiosity and drama on the part of the public.”

That’s very categorical, there is no evidence. I wonder how the prosecution will dispute this, considering the fact that they have NOT YET PROVEN ANYTHING beyond reasonable doubt.

Calls for Corona to testify are being resurrected, for one by presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda, with the order of Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales to the Chief Justice to explain his alleged $10 million in bank deposits.

But go to Inquirer.net and you will find a story saying the prosecutors themselves are still undecided on whether or not to use the alleged $10 million as evidence.

Meaning, they’re not convinced with the allegation’s credibility and strength as proof.

MAGKAKAMPI naman sila pero MAGKAIBA ang ikantang kinakanta. Anong klaseng drama ito?

There is always motive in every move that they make. It’s obvious that it was after the SC ruling on HLI, what else do the Cojuangcos and the Aquin's want? To get the P10 billion and not the measly P200 million.
