Civil
Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) officials should not only carry
out their threat to resign en masse following a scolding they got from outgoing
DOTC Sec. Mar Roxas over their declaration that there was no foul play in the
plane crash that killed Jesse Robredo.
They
should also be IINVESTIGATED.
First:
The ‘no foul play’ declaration which CAAP officials made in a congressional committee
hearing WAS PREMATURE. They themselves admitted that their probe of the crash
was NOT YET FINISHED.
Then
WHY THE HELL did they issue the declaration in the first place? I don’t see anything bad, or wrong, in saying
that it’s still PREMATURE to say so.
The
declaration itself was OUTRIGHT SUSPICIOUS, since CAAP officials REFUSED to
reveal the BASIS for it to media. But they readily agreed to do so before
members of the congressional committee headed by Sen. Bong Revilla.

ng naitanong ko na. ANO ANG HINDI PUWEDENG MALAMAN ng publiko pero dapat
malaman agad ng committee? Kung WALANG DAPAT ITAGO, WALANG MATINONG
DAHILAN para HINDI patunayan ng CAAP ang
deklarasyon nilang ‘no foul play.’

naman ng GARAPAL na PANLOLOKO niyan.
Second: Earlier media reports that the pilot of the
plane, Jessup Bahinting, had expired licenses at the time of the crash CAME
FROM CAAP, TWICE.
One
was from an insider who asked not to be named and was quoted in a daily
broadsheet newspaper. The other (whose name I forgot) spoke in front of the
camera of a TV station and was aired in its evening newscast.
The
DOTC, WHICH HAS SUPERVISION over CAAP, immediately denied the first report, and
did so AGAIN with more details for the second.
So
CAAP officials have to explain why did the MALICIOUS story on Bahinting;s
supposedly expired licenses come out for a second time on television when the
DOTC itself has BELIED it already.
If
they will say that it was an individual act not sanctioned by their office,
then they had better have PHYTSICAL PROOF that they had done INVESTIGATIVE work
to identify the culprit and find out how did it happen.
The
bottom line, however, stays the same.
A
SELF-SERVING BUT BASELESS declaration and an erroneous story coming out twice in media despite a denial of
the first is NOTHING LESS THAN INCOMPETENCE
For
incompetents, especially those with DUBIOUS MOTIVES, there’s NO OTHER WAY BUT
OUT!
