Calling on officials and members of the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC):

A story in The Philippine Star today says the INC had ‘surrendered’ to the wishes of President Aquino to support a guilty verdict for Chief Justice Renato Corona.

This supposedly triggered the change of heart of six senators who had initially decided to acquit Corona.

Somebody please shed light on this. Personally, I don’t believe it.

The consistent information that I got was when INC officials received Pnoy at their central headquarters in Quezon City, they BLUNTLY told him that they DO NOT interfere in politics.

And that Pnoy had better focus on more pressing problems of the country like unemployment and hunger than on Corona’s impeachment.

But my sources said the INC NEVER told Pnoy that they’re supportive of his obsession to oust Corona through the impeachment. Neither did the group express support to Pnoy on everything.

What strengthened my belief of the truth of this information is Pnoy NEVER BOASTED of INC support to Corona’s impeachment, after his visit to the central headquarters until the verdict yesterday.

If he had indeed earned the support of the group, he would have PROCLAIMED IT HIMSELF.

But he did not. Even Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda did not reveal anything to this effect when asked by reporters of what transpired during Pnoy’s visit.

Corona’s impeachment trial may be over but an official statement from the

INC is IMPORTANT more than ever.

If the supposed INC support for Pnoy on Corona’s impeachment is a LIE,

then it’s a SHAMELESS DECEPTION meant to condition the public mind that Pnoy remains immensely popular as before.

And should be BLINDLY FOLLOWED by everyone, REGARDLESS of what he’ll do, including acts by his henchmen or lapdogs in Malacanang and throughout the bureaucracy, and their politician allies.

It will also be solid proof that we have GULLIBLE senators in our midst.

If the alleged INC support is true, then so be it. At least, the people will be enlightened on what is really happening in our country. I just hope that the INC has rock-solid basis for their decision.

But until the INC issues an official statement, allow me to appeal to everyone NOT TO BE MISLED.
