Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales will have a WHOLE DAMNED LOT to explain when she testifies in the Senate Impeachment Court on the alleged $10-million undeclared or questionable bank deposits of Chief Justice Renato Corona.

First and foremost of which is WHERE OR HOW DID SHE GET the amount of $10 million.

T\wo of the complainants against Corona before the Office of the Ombudsman over the supposed dollar deposits have CATEGORICALLY DENIED claiming the Chief Justice had 

$10 million.

Former Rep. Risa Hontiveros was quoted in media websites as saying: “I didn’t say, and we who signed the letter-complaint did not say and did not mention, any amount of $10 million. What we mentioned were real estate properties and dollar accounts and a couple of accounts that had already been presented in the impeachment court."

Akbayan Rep. Walden Bello said HE HAS NO IDEA how or where did Morales get the $10 million figure. He told reporters “the $10 million figure came from investigation of (the) Ombudsman following our complaint.

But Morales denied in a story in the Daily Tribune that her office was conducting a probe, adding she only obtained the information from media reports.

A third accuser, Harvey Keh, of the group Kaya Natin!, said HE COULD NOT TESTIFY on the authenticity of documents of Corona’s alleged $10 million. Keh had earlier claimed having documents showing Corona had some $2 million in bank deposits.

HINDI PA MAN, MUKHANG NILALAGLAG NA SI MORALES!

Second, Morales must justify why did she order Corona to explain ONLY A WEEK or so ago, when her office received the complaints against him much earlier.

What makes this stage of Corona’s impeachment trial SO APPROPRIATE for her to issue the order, and for her office to LEAK IT EXCLUSIVELY to te Inquirer?

Hontiveros said she and several other filed their complaint after the Supreme Court issued a temporary restraining order on the opening of Corona’s dollar bank accounts, which was MORE THAN A MONTH before the trial went on  a recess  last March.

Third, did her office, or the complainants, have even a SINGLE PIECE OF HARD EVIDENCE of the supposed $10 million OTHER THAN MEDIA REPORTS before she ordered Corona to explain?

If none, why did she order him to explain in the first place, considering that she surely knew the allegation would DEMONIZE CORONA in the public eye? Why didn’t she ask and wait first for SOLID PROOF from the complainants?

If she had evidence, why hasn’t she revealed it up to now, like the names of the banks which supposedly keeps the $10 million?

Considering her intellectual stature, it would be IMPOSSIBLE for Morales NOT TO REALIZE that doing so would have given Corona a FAIR CHANCE for a more detailed defense.

Let’s all listen to EVERY WOIRD Morales will say when she testifies. Let’s find out for ourselves if she still deserves our continued trust as Ombudsman.
