SOMETHING'S SCARY ABOUT AID TO FLOOD VICTIMS!

Heartwarming and badly-needed as they are, there is something VERY SCARY about the donations for victims of the recent floods.

Especially the multi-million peso aid from foreign donors and big businesses.

Walang malinaw na ebidensiya na HINDI ITO NINANAKAW, o hindi ito ginagamit sa iabng paraan ng mga taong WALANG KARAPATANG pakiqalaman ito.

HINDI MALINAW KUNG SINO o sinu-sino ang humahawak ng donasyon. 

WALANG DETALYADONG kuwenta kung paano ginagastos o nagastos ang pera. WALANG KONKRETONG katibayan na nakarating sa lahat ng pinaglaanan ng donasyon ang tulong na nagmula ditto.

The only thing we hear or read from the news is so many thousands or hundreds of thousands of victims have supposedly received aid or relief goods. But there’s no public disclosure on how much has been spent on what and for whom.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) informed media that 136,730 family food packs worth P34.18 million have been repacked. But of these, it has only released 102,455 family food packs worth P25.61.

WALANG PALIWANAG KUNG NASAAN, PARA SAAN o PARA KANINO, iyung mahigit na 34,000 natitirang food packs, bakit hindi ito ipinamigay at SINO ang may utos na huwag ipamigay.

There’s noting clear on how much of the donations has been spent and how much is left.

Iilang tao lamang ang nakakaalam ng lahat ng impormasyon na ito. Tayong sambayanan ay hindi rin alam kung sinu-sino ang mga ito, at kung sino ang pang-kalahatang nangangasiwa sa mga donasyon na siyang dapat managot kung magkakanakwan.

Tandaan ninyo, mga kababayan, MILYUN-MILYON at hindi barya-barya lamang ang pinaguusapan nating donasyon dito.

Just yesterday, the European Union (EU) was reported as having allocated 700,000 euros (not lower than P40 million) to provide relief to the flood victims.

Lubomir Frebort, chargé d’affaires of the EU delegation in the Philippines, said the funds “will be used primarily for distribution of relief items, water and sanitation, debris clean-up, food assistance, shelter support and medical aid.”

Canada is giving more than P2.1 million as initial support to the relief efforts for flood victims. Days earlier, $100,000  (P4.1 million) came from the United States.

The name of the game, guys, is TRANSPARENCY.  If everything is in order, then there should be no problem for the government to disclose or provide documentary evidence and other kinds of proof, IMMEDIATELY.

If it can’t, then not only the flood victims but ALL OF US, the ENTIRE COUNTRY are in VERY BIG TROUBLE.

Ask abnoy what has been done in the almost 2 years to lessen or even just mitigate the problem. I'm 100 per cent sure there are plans and projects with the DPWH gathering dust and never been implemented because of the cost. But how about the human and economic costs the country suffers, which is so much more?

Worst, he said that those projects were a joke but yet, he never came up with his own, better solutions or alternatives. What we need is political will to really study and implement effective flood control for Manila . Kung bara-bara lang ang paggastos sa 'flood control projects, tuloy-tuloy pa talaga ang pagbaha. Kung sino man ang may option na maghanap ng trabaho outside Manila , better start packing.
