DON'T GET PERSONAL OVER SCARBOROUGH!

Allow me to remind everyone of one thing in the ongoing standoff between our country and China at the Scarborough Shoal --  DO NOT EXTEND the tension between you and your Chinese friends, neighbors, relatives or mere acquaintances.

The situation is on a government-to-government level.

Our Chinese friends, and every other Chinese that we know here at home, HAVE NOTHING TO DO with what’s happening

NOBODY WILL WIN if we let the problem affect our relations with our Chinese friends. And this goes to our Chinese friends too in their social and personal ties with our fellow Filipinos.

I thought of making this reminder after a few of my friends revealed to me early this morning that they had recently gotten into heated debates with their Chinese acquaintances over Scarborough.

Three of them confessed that they are even starting to be suspicious or extra cautious in dealing with their Chinese contacts

I only advised them two things:

First, tell their Chinese friends and associates that the Scarborough problem has NOTHING TO DO with their social and business ties, and that it won’t do any good to either one of them to let it affect them personally.

Personally, I think only a handful of BANDITS in the Chinese side are responsible for the bullying being done to us. They are just being successful so far in misleading their government leaders with their historical but undocumented claim over Scarborough.

Second, instead of quarrelling over Scarborough, they should pray together for a quick and peaceful end to the standoff, and for the Chinese government to accept that fact that there are international laws and treaties they are bound to follow.

I leave you guys with the same thoughts to consider.
