Sen. Sergio Osmeña III has verified what could
very well prove to be a devastating blow to the prosecution in the impeachment
trial of Chief Justice Renato Corona.
Osmena confirmed that Demetrio Vicente was indeed
residing in the 3,400-square meter property in Marikina
City which he claimed he had bought
from Corona ’s
wife Cristina back in 1990.
In an interview, Osmena told the Philippine
Daily Inquirer: “I confirmed with certain people if he lived there and they
said ‘yes, we visited him there.”
Remember guys, the title to the property is still
under the name of Cristina. It’s one of the properties which the prosecution
says was not declared in his statement of assets, liabilities and net worth
(SALN).
But Osmena himself said that due to the time it
takes and the huge volume of paperwork that needs to be done, some people
become lazy in transferring a title.
He said he has relatives “whose properties are
still in the name of their lolas (grandmothers).”
He said: “I was wondering why on earth would anybody
live on 3,400 square meters? For bonsai,“ noting that the property had a large
collection of bonsai.
Now, let’s see what the prosecution has to say
about this. Or how will they belie Osmena’s findings.
With Osmena’s findings, I sure hope the Senate Impeachment Court
will take a SECOND, RIGID LOOK at all the documents presented by the
prosecution on properties allegedly owned but undeclared by Corona in his SALN.
I also pray that other senators will follow
Osmena’s example and do some verification work on other pieces of evidence
against Corona
in the impeachment court.
Osmena’s findings effectively casts DOUBT on the
veracity or authenticity of the other prosecution evidence.
The danger that we, the people, are being TAKEN
FOR A RIDE by the prosecution is PRESENT, and VERY CLEAR!

Even administration

THE REAL VALUE OF TIANGCO’S
TESTIMONY!
ED OLIFERNES
I
read this blogspot. Tiangco has already said his piece. He admitted that he did
not sign the impeachment complaint. Also, that he resigned his committee
chairmanship. His non-signing does not mean all or most of those who signed
were coerced to do so. What we can digest from his statement is that he feels
bad that he received his pork barrel funds belatedly..
