The plan by the Corona
Whether they admit it or not, it only means they know they have a VERY WEAK CASE up to now, MORE THAN A MONTH after transmitting the articles of impeachment to the Senate.
NORMALLY, complainants first gather complete and compelling evidence and witnesses before filing their case before any court.
But now, it’s CRYSTAL-CLEAR that the prosecution transmitted the articles of impeachment to the Senate WITHOUT ANY SOLID PROOF of their allegations against Chief Justice Renato Corona.
Otherwise, THEY WOULD NOT NEED 100 witnesses if they’re convinced they have a strong case. And take note, people, this is still not a fishing expedition for them as far as the prosecution is concerned.
What makes it DESPICABLY DISGUSTING is the 100 witnesses will prolong the trial indefinitely. The longer the trial, the more taxpayers’ money, OUR MONEY, will be spent.
Lead defense counsel Serafin Cuevas, when asked by Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago several days ago how many witnesses do they intend to present, readily replied they have 15 lined up and ready for presentation, along with their documentary evidence.
Asked with the same question, lead prosecutor Niel Tupas Jr. said he would still have to consult with his fellow prosecutors.
If the defense can be ready with their witnesses and proof at this stage of the trial, there’s no valid reason why the prosecution can’t, considering they were the ones who filed the impeachment complaint.
The 100 witnesses is shining proof of how INCOMPETENT the prosecution is, and how HASTY the congressmen prosecutors were in filing the impeachment complaint before the Senate just to please Pnoy.
We’re the ones paying now for that incompetence and haste.
Not just with our taxes, but also with the time congressmen- prosecutors are wasting on their weak case, time which they’re supposed to spend on writing laws to improve the quality of our lives.
THE VERY REASON why we had voted them!
As they say in English, it’s either you have it or you don’t. If the congressmen-prosecutors don’t, then they should have the DECENCY to stop their impeachment circus, and get back to work as lawmakers.
