DESPERATE MOVES TO CONDITION OUR MINDS!

Here’s how DESPERATE and ARROGANT the prosecution is in CONDITIONIING the public mind that Chief Justice Renato Corona is guilty of the impeachment complaint he is facing.

Prosecutor and Bayan Muna Rep. Neri Javier Colmenares told newsmen anything less than a satisfactory explanation of where Corona’s riches came cannot result in an acquittal since it will render as questionable Supreme Court decisions on graft and corruption.

Colmenares also had THE NERVE to categorically declare that Corona’s failure to disclose the acquisition cost of his properties will prove to be fatal, and that the defense should stop presenting witnesses and testimonies that would only further incriminate the Chief Justice.

So Colmenares thinks, and feels, that he’s SMARTER than the senator-judges that he can PREEMPT and ADVISE them on how to decide on the impeachment complaint.

He also sees himself as being smarter than the defense that he can ask them to stop presenting witnesses.

This is not just ARROGANCE. This is DELUSION to the MAX!

Colmenares added that Corona’s mistakes in the SALN are not an impeachable offense was unacceptable to the people.

Says who, Colmenares? Under what law?

You DON’T SPEAK FOR THE PEOPLE. You DON’T REPRESENT  the entire Filipino race in the impeachment court. So don’t use the people in your BASELESS, SELF-SERVING  pronouncements.

That is, if you know what shame means!

Prosecution spokesman and Marikina Rep. Romero Quimbo said the people should not forget that Corona not only failed to put the acquisition cost but he failed to declare them at all for several years.

Quimbo said Corona bought condominium units in 2004, 2005 and 2009 but declared them only in his 2010 SALN.

The people, and that includes you Mr. Quimbo, should not also forget that Corona has the RIGHT TO EXPLAIN  this issue. Until that happens, nothing less than the CONSTITUTION provides that the Chief Justice is PRESUMED INNOCENT until proven guilty.

And believe me, Mr. Quimbo, the people will NEVER FORGET that only the Senate Impeachment Court has the POWER, and the LEGAL AND MORAL RIGHT, to judge on any and all matters pertaining to the case.

Definitely NOT YOU and your colleagues in the prosecution, or Pnoy or anyone else from Malacanang.

So you and your team had better save your breath.

You and your team, and especially Pnoy and your other bosses, are NOT AS CREDIBLE AND POPULAR as you think you are.

The people are a lot, lot smarter than you think. 30

CORONA PROSECUTORS' LATEST MALICIOUS GIMMICK!

Here’s the latest MALICIOUS GIMMICK of the prosecution in the impeachment trial of Chief Justice Renato Corona.

The hotly-debated acquisition costs of the properties which Corona had declared in his statement of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALN) are indicated in their deeds of absolute sale.

The deeds of absolute sale are filed with the Bueau of Internal Revenue (BIR) for payment of capital gains.

And defense counsel Ramon Esguerra told newsmen copies of the deeds of absolute sale had been submitted as evidence by the prosecution.

Therefore, the prosecution KNEW the acquisition costs of Corona’s properties ALL ALONG. Unless they’ll say they’re suffering from SELECTIVE BLINDNESS.

But in the last hearing, the prosecution DID NOT SHOW ANY INDCTATION that they knew the acquisition costs of Corona’s properties.

Instead, the prosecution immediately and MALICIOUSLY accused Corona of being UNTRUTHFUL for the missing figures. And their media allies readily came out with supportive stories.

When they, and their media allies, could have asked why was the acquisition cost not indicated in the SALN when it was in the deeds of absolute sale in the first place.

This is how DIRTY AND MALICIOUS the prosecution can get.

Considering that for the past several weeks, they and their boss in Malacanang have been arrogantly BOASTING in media that they have a solid case against Corona.

I’m not a lawyer. I don’t work for Corona either and anybody can verify this anytime.

But with the acquisition costs being in the deeds of absolute sale, it would be GROSSLY UNFAIR and PATHETICALLY MISLEADING for anyone to accuse Corona of bad faith or to insist on it.

More than ever, the explanation of the Chief Justice must be heard, FIRST, in whatever manner he deems best before anyone passes his or her own judgment.

And the prosecution’s media allies should broadcast or print the explanation in the newspapers with THE SAME PROMINENCE given to their accusations against the Chief Justice.

As I’ve said before, we’re in a democracy. Fair play is a major component of democracy which listens to both sides of a story first before a verdict is rendered.

Anyone who doesn’t believe in fair play had better start packing their bags for communist countries like Russia or China.

SO WHERE’S THE VAT ON OIL MAR. VALTE?

11 (profit) per liter of gasoline sold is so much \money.

DONN IDOS of Paranaque City
Posibleng sa bulsa nila. VAT is close to P2 billion a month so I don’t think that they do not know where the hell they are spending it. GMA then allocated it to infra and debt repayments as stipulated by the International Monetary Fund.

RODEL RAMIL of Kowloon City, Hong Kong
So funny! Social services daw. Tama, karapatan ng buong sambayanan na malaman kung saang sector ginagamit ang pondo galing sa VAT. As I remember, during the time of GMA, hindi ba't halos magwala si Mar sa Senado na tanggalin ang VAT sa langis? Ngayon, iba na tono niya. Ipokrito rin ang isang ito!

DON’’T BE FOOLED WITH CORONA SALN DISCREPANCY!

ED OLIFERNES
The problem here is that Corona should not have been remiss in his SALN. A lot of lowly government employees have been dismissed by the Supreme Court for being untruthful with their SALN. Being the highest official in the Supreme Court, it is expected that Corona has dutifully and faithfully discharges the letters of the Constitution. If he errs in filing, and admits the same, the Constitution provides for a leeway for him to correct the entries in his SALN. 30

SO WHERE'S THE VAT ON OIL MAR, VALTE?

MalacaƱang says it will not lift the 12 percent value added tax (VAT) on oil despite calls by various sectors, many of whom come from  the masses and the poor.

Even though the VAT on oil IS NOT the only source of the hundreds of billions of government revenues annually.

Ganiyan KAWALANG KONSIYENSIYA ang gobyerno ni Pnoy.

So we had better start asking the following questions to ALL concerned officials, from Malacanang officials to Cabinet members down to senators, congressmen, governors and mayors:

WHERE IS THE MONEY? HOW MUCH? HOW AND ON WHERE OR WHAT IS IT BEING SPENT? WHAT’S OUR ASSURANCE THAT IT’S NOT BEING STOLEN?

Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte emphasized that the VAT on oil funds social programs for vulnerable sectors.

WHAT PROGRAMS, Ms Valte? For whom and where? You DID NOT SPECIFY EVEN ONE of these supposed social programs or vulnerable sectors.

You DID NOT also cite EVEN ONE example of how much has been spent on where or whom.

Don’t think that we, the people, are stupid enough to believe whatever you Malacanang mouthpieces declare. You’re not as credible as you think you are.

If you can’t give any specific detail, Ms. Valte, ano ang kasiguruan naming mamamayan na hindi NINANAKAW ang VAT?

Let’s ask these same questions, guys, to Transportation Secretary Marl Roxas II.

Roxas had announced in Zamboanga City that the Aquino administration had no plans of cutting the VAT on oil because the money is being used to render social services to the public.

But like Valte, Roxas did not give details. He did not specify what social services, for whom and how much is involved. Instead, Roxas tossed the burden to proponents of VAT reduction by asking them to identify what projects supported by the VAT would they want stopped.

Somebody give me a milder term for this, please, other than ARROGANCE!

Unless Roxas has forgotten that he’s the one in government, not VAT reduction proponents.

BILYUN-BILYONG PERA ang pinaguusapan natin, mga kababayan. At WALA tayong kaalam-alam kung SAAN NAPUPUNTA!

Hanggang kalian natin pababayaan ang ganitong sitwasyon?

BIEN BALAJADIA OF Marikina City
Maganda, ipasubpoena ang mga SALN ng prosecuton congressmen. para lang sa comparison.

BELINDA MADRID
Yes... we should begin to look at this not so much as a CJ Corona issue but more of a systemic issue on public accountability that begins with the President.

JOE BOY VERA
All of these discussions about fair market, assessed, and acquisition values are irrelevant to article of impeachment 2 as averred by presiding Senator-Judge Juan Ponce Enrile (JPE) What is important is if Corona declared it all in his SALN. Even Senator judges Recto and Escudero said they themselves don't know the fair market value of their condominium properties. So it just boils down to whether the CJ owned those properties he had been accused of as his and if those were lawfully stated in his SALN! And it now appears that he has been truthful to his declaration.

MALOU GUEVARRA
Sen. Enrile is very much korek. How about Niel Tupas’ SALN?

LOLITA BELEN of Cabuyao, Laguna
Lahat naman sila assessed value lang ang dinideclare. Hamunin n’yo kaya sina Tupas, et all, para ipakita SALN nila.

LARD SOLOSA
Congressman Tiangco DID NOT besmirch the entire House of Representatives but only the 188 members who allowed themselves to be tamed, and dictated upon by Abnoy.

The sad truth about the 188 congressmen ay (sila ay) mga ‘robot.’ Imagine, no less than Congressman (Rudy) Farinas said he was not able to read the Articles of Impeachment at "talagang masama ang pagkakagawa” so that's why he didn't sign it. And now Congressman Tiangco is corroborating those statements.

IT'S NOW TOBY VS JV!

It’s now Toby (Navotas Rep. Tobias Tiangco) versus JV (San Juan Rep. Joseph Victor Ejercito).

Tiangco is challenging Ejercito to testify before the Senate and repeat his statement that House members were not forced into signing the impeachment complaint against Chief Justice Renato Corona last Dec. 12.

Tiangco says “in order to protect my integrity and test the truthfulness of his statement, I must request him to swear to it under oath.”

In effect, Tiangco’s saying he’s challenging Ejercito so that the people will know once and for all who between the two of them is TELLING THE TRUTH.

Good. Para  magkaalaman na talaga kung sino ang SINUNGALING!

Ejercito should realize that Tiangco is indirectly telling him that he’s LYING! If he doesn’t accept the challenge, or present CONVINCING EVIDENCE to the contrary under oath, even if not in the Senate, he will be Tiangco’s best proof of the TRUTH!

Tiangco had told the Senate impeachment court, under oath, that the release of  their pork barrel was used by House leaders to force them into signing the impeachment complaint. House leaders have denied this.

For his own sake, Ejercito had better not commit the grave mistake of accusing Tiangco of anything in issuing the challenge.

Tiangco had kept quiet after his testimony.

But Ejercito said in a TV interview Wednesday that the impeachment process was indeed “rushed,” but no coercion or threat was made by House leaders.

So the burden of proof is now on Ejercito.

If he’s telling the truth, there’s no reason for him not to accept Tiangco’s challenge.

If he doesn’t accept the challenge, Ejercito will cast a very huge blanket of doubt not only on his integrity but on those of the other House members who signed the impeachment complaint as well.

That will mean a hell of a damage control operation to do to save whatever credibility he and the others have left.

Huwag tayong bibitiw, mga kababayan. Integridad at karangalan na ng mga congressmen natin ang pinaguusapan dito. 30

DON'T BE FOOLED WITH CORONA SALN DISCREPANCY!

In the interest of fair play, WAIT FIRST for the explanation of Chief Justice Renato Corona or the defense panel on the P5-million discrepancy in his statement of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALN) before you’re MISLED or FOOLED by the prosecution and their media allies.

Whether anybody likes it or not, they have the RIGHT TO EXPLAIN before any conclusion is made by anyone.

For those who missed today’s impeachment hearing, Sen. Panfilo Lacson noted in Corona’s SALN that the total acquisition cost for his  declared condominium units at the Bonfiacio Ridge and the Bellagio was approximately P23 million.

But Lacson said the amount of P18,438,980 was also listed under the column “acquisition cost” for the five properties which Corona had declared as his.

Asked by Lacson to comment, lead defense counsel Serafin Cuevas assured the senator that: “We will definitely deal with it when our time comes in the presentation of presentation of our evidence.”

But private prosecutor Jose Panganiban CATEGORICALLY concluded: “Hindi po truthful. Hindi po accurate iyong pagkaka-declare ng SALN.”

And the Philippine Daily Inquirer readily supported Panganiban’s declaration with a story in their website which said: “Chief Justice Renato Corona’s failure to declare the actual acquisition cost of his properties in his SALN was highlighted on Day 30 of the impeachment trial.”

No need to wait for Corona’s explanation.

Agad-agad, hindi truthful at hindi accurate si Corona. He failed.  GUILTY na agad si Chief Justice, period!

Ganiyan ka-UNFAIR ang laban, mga kababayan! I dare say so because, among others:

When the prosecution reduced the number of properties they claimed to be owned by Corona from 45 to 21, the defense DID NOT categorically accuse them of being UNTRUTHFUL and inaccurate.

The prosecution claimed that a short lady whom nobody knew was the one who gave them copies of the bank documents of Corona at the Senate.

But when Senate closed circuit television footage did not show any lady on the day and hour that they said she came, the defense did not call them LIARS!

Take note, people, I’M NOT DEFENDING Corona. All I’m saying is we should all be FAIR enough to wait for his explanation before passing our own verdict.

Because whether or not the prosecution and their allies like it, EVERYONE IS ENTITLED TO FAIR PLAY.

No exceptions! 30

'NO-WIN' FOR HOUSE ON TIANGCO!

The House of Representatives won’t punish Navotas Representative Tobias Tiangco for defying the chamber  and testifying for Chief Justice Renato Corona at the impeachment trial.

If they think they’ve won, somebody wake them up quick form their nightmare.

By not punishing Tiangco, the only message the House conveyed was that they DON’T WANT their colleague from Navotas to keep on talking. Tiangco would have been on a rage and talked a lot more about how things run in the House if they had kicked him out.

House Majority Leader Neptali Gonzales II claimed Tiangco won’t be penalized because there are “priority measures” which they needed to focus on.

As if the unnamed congressmen whom Gonzales himself had claimed as ANGRY over Tiangco’s act is MAGNANIMOUS and CHIVALROUS  enough to simply forget everything.

Give us a break, Rep. Gonzales.

If this were so, you shouldn’t have lambasted Tiangco in media in  the first place. You shouldn’t have claimed that some congressmen, whom you NEVER  NAMED were mad.

Most of all, you shouldn’t have declared in media interviews that Tiangco should brace for possible expulsion following his testimony in thje impeachment court.

You should have simply issued a denial and immediately declared that the House will not punish Tiangco for what he had done.

The mere fact that you declared twice that Tiangco may or should get ready for possible expulsion only means that even for a while, you guys had considered getting even with Toby and are NOT REALLY THAT FORGIVING.

Not everybody is as GULLIBLE and as die-hard for Pnoy as you think, Mr. Gonzales.  We’re a lot smarter than you think.

Bottom line, congressman, Tiangco revealed DISHONORABLE CONDUCT by some of your colleagues in the preparation and passage of the impeachment complaint against Corona.

And you DID NOT EFFECTIVELY DISPROVE this by not penalizing Tiangco.
