NO REASON TO CELEBRATE PNOY'S 2ND YEAR!

Media reports said Pnoy marked his second year Saturdaym June 30, in office with little fanfare.

Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte claimed in a media interview that much has been achieved by Pnoy’s administration in the last two years.

But she could not cite even one of the supposed achievements.

Valte claimed that there has been genuine, meaningful change: “in the way government is run, in the way our country is viewed by the international community.”

Speaking of the way government is run:

Two years into the presidency and Pnoy DOESN’T HAVE EVEN ONE major infrastructure project to show as having been finished or started, and funded, by his administration.

No new road, bridge, pier, airport, no nothing.

And before anybody cites the conditional cash transfer program (CCT) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, that was started by former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Pnoy’s government claims to have created millions of jobs. But it can’t even name a handful of the supposedly new employees or the companies who took them in.

The shortage in classrooms, teachers and textbooks are still in the tens of thousands while tuition remains sky-high. Instead of finding solutions to these problems, the Department of Education ADDED another one with two more years of elementary and high school education through the K plus 12 program.

There are now more than five million youth workers, three million of whom are CHILD LABORERS.

Despite Pnoy’s highly publicized war on corruption, not even one proverbial ‘big fish’ has been arrested and convicted. .

The ILLEGAL numbers game jueteng remains UNTOUCHED. Interior and Local Government Sec, Rico Puno was accused of receiving jueteng bribes but Pnoy IMMEDIATELY CLEARED him without ordering any investigation.

In the way our country is viewed by the international community:
On his recent visit to London, Pnoy WAS NOT GRANTED AN AUDIENCE by Queen Elizabeth. He wasn’t even welcomed by a member of the Royal Family when he arrived there.

In his meeting with US President Barack Obama, Pnoy was only given 30 minutes. Less than a week later, the US issued a travel advisory against the Philippines.

I just lost count but there have been quite a lot of travel advisories against us since Pnoy took over as president.

China has been openly bullying us for more than a month or two.

The US, with which we have a mutual defense treaty, can’t even give us a crystal clear assurance that it won’t abandon us all the way n case of armed conflict with China.

Neither has there been any unified call and aggressive moves from the United Nations to China to stop humiliating us in the eyes of the world community.

Valte said the “government is now seen as a partner and not as an oppressor.”

Really? Then why is the rating of Pnoy on a STEADY DECLINE in the last few months?  If that’s the case, Ms. Valte, then youre a partner who is getting more and more disliked by the other partner.

GGISING, MGA KABABAYAN!

CARPIO AS CHIEF JUSTICE IS ALARMING!

Acting Chief Justice Antonio Carpio’s pronouncement that he will not hesitate to lead the Judiciary and be permanent chief magistrate is alarming.

Two events which transpired during the impeachment trial of former Chief Justice Renato Corona immediately cast doubt on his fairness and integrity, two of the most important traits every chief magistrate should have.

Remember, guys, two of Carpio’s relatives gave CONTROVERSIAL testimonies during the impeachment trial.

One was his nephew, the administrator of the Land Registration Authority (LRA).

The LRA boss ADMITTED to having supplied the titles to the supposed 45 properties of Corona.

It later turned out that more than 20 of the titles were no longer under the former Chief Justice’s name. The pathetic excuse given by the LRA boss was  it was no longer his job but those of  congressmen-prosecutors to double-check the authenticity of the titles.

Carpio was never reported as having reprimanded his nephew in any way about it, even if the titles UNJUSTLY and IMMEDIATELY tarnished the reputation of a colleague in the Supreme Court.

Anybody correct me if I’m wrong.

Next was Carpio’s cousin, Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales, who brandished during the impeachment trial supposed records of Corona’s 80 plus dollar accounts from the Anti-Money Laundering Council.

Don’t forget, Morales later admitted that these were UNVERIFIED and UNAUTHENTICATED. Again, Carpio did not say a word about this.

If Carpio had immediately expressed even the slightest dismay over Morales and his nephew, it would be an entirely different story. There would be no question whatsoever about his fairness.

But as we all know by now, Carpio just kept QUIET. So if Carpio can be DEAF, DUMB or BLIND to MALICE this early, what more can he do if he will be Chief Justice?

I remember Carpio having said something days ago to the effect that he is for a truly independent Supreme Court.

The moves of his nephew and Morales were In support of Pnoy’s desire to oust Corona. So if  his relatives can get away with what they did now, and  his silence is in UNDENIABLE support of Pnoy, how can the Supreme Court be truly independent if he will be the boss? What IMPARTIALITY and JUSTICE can politicians and other people hated by Pnoy expect if he is Chief Justice?

Think about all these, guys. Think really hard, because our future and that of our country is on the line.

The people must know that pre-programmed machines can be easily manipulated even minutes before the election. SMARTMATIC'S WORD IS NOT GOSPEL TRUTH!

Nobody should take Smartmatic’s word hook, line and sinker that there are no more problems with the PCOS machines when tthese are used again in next year’s elections.

Despite the mock elections held at a hearing in the Senate by Smartmatic and Comelec officials as proof.

Simply because Smartmatic’s claim is SELF-SERVING!

It would be foolish for anyone to expect Smartmatic to admit deficiencies or problems in the PCOS up to now, less than a year before the elections.

I’m not saying that Smartmatic is lying.

What I’m saying is there should be a THOROUGH, as in RIGID, technical evaluation FIRST by experts from the private sector before the reliability of PCOS machines is officially accepted for next year’s polls.

The private sector experts or any member of their families should have NO LINKS whatsoever to Smartmatic, Comelec or any other government office or agency.

They should be nominated or recommended by the private sector, not appointed by government.

The evaluation they’ll conduct should be DETAILED, especially on possible ways to tamper with or manipulate the PCOS and the safeguards against it, considering that it’s still almost a year before the 2013 elections.

Their evaluation should be covered and aired live by all TV and radio stations for transparency.

And most of all, their findings should be revealed IMMEDIATELY, as in at once, in a live press conference right after they finish. Comelec or any other government agency should NOT CONTROL the release of the results.

APPOLINE GALLAZA of Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Tax and customs departments are often the locus of major fraud and corruption and thus need to be a major focus of national strategies. This can often be addressed by giving revenue agencies greater managerial freedom to hire and fire staff and to set pay levels while subjecting their performance to close scrutiny. Organizational restructuring and staff rotation can also help reduce opportunities for corruption. Tax policy may also affect anti-corruption goals. Simplifying tax and tariff schedules and keeping rates at moderate levels reduces the discretion of tax and customs staff, and narrows the scope for corrupt payments.

PNOY'S SENSELESS 'PA-POGI' ON CORRUPTION!

A few weeks or months ago, President Aquino boasted that corruption is dead or something to that effect.

But in an international conference organized by the University of the Philippines-National College of Public Administration and Governance (UP-NCPAG), Pnoy ADMITTED that corrupt officials remain.

ANO BA TALAGA?

When Pnoy claimed that corruption was dead, there was no acknowledgement of support from the public sector for the purported achievement.

Now, he’s asking the public to help in eradicating corruption.

Pnoy boasted that supposed reforms of his government have resulted in the improvement of the country’s standing  in Transparency International’s Corruption index from 134th in 2010 to 129th last YEAR.

Point No. 1 - The first half of 2010 was still covered by the administration of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. It would be nothing less than ARROGANCE for him to claim full credit for that improvement.

Point No. 2 – The only example he cited as a reform was the reduction in red tape in government offices. No details on what offices or how was the reduction achieved.

Most of all, Pnoy DID NOT MENTION any move he’s doing, or has done against multi-billion acts which wouldn’t have been carried out without the cooperation of corrupt officials.

Like the still UNSOLVED DISAPPEARANCE of 2,000 containers of various goods from the Bureau of Customs, and the TOTALLY UNTOUCHABLE JUETENG.

Pnoy said the problem of poverty must still be solved.

But he did not cite even one specific program or project being undertaken by his administration which has created jobs or livelihood opportunities for the poor.

What he enumerated instead was the supposed increase in the number of families enrolled in the government’s conditional cash transfer (CCT) program or covered by PhilHealth.

This is not even in his radar. After CJ Corona's impeachment, I don't know what Noynoy's doing to keep himself busy. Forget about what he plans to do to actually serve the Filipino people (is it even in his to-do list). What he's busy with is for his SONA to have some semblance of content. So, he went to the US , and to Europe ; and shock all of us by lending a ridiculous amount of money to the IMF. It's like paying his way into an upscale social club. This is where he's put his sights on. Shrug off this China conflict - it irritates him no end so no one could blame him for any bratty statements he makes about it. And who cares about losing the China market? If the banana exporters cannot sell their products there, why can't they just shut up and look for a new market - in one click, okay? And, excuse me! What increasing crime rate? Lose firearms - We simply live now in the wild, wild west. So now, why should we even bother him with child laborers?

The Philippines should be grateful to God Almighty that we have an abundance of young people. While Japan and Europe are foreseeing problems in the future due to their decreasing population who won't be able to handle the responsibilities of their next generation, we in the Philippines will have enough labor force to take care of our country's responsibilities in the next seven generations. Those who are worried of the increase in population should focus on the problem not in numbers ... but sharing of our wealth which is under the control of just one percent while the 99 percent are forced to survive on their own, the reason why many seek their fortunes elsewhere other than their beloved country. This is a continuing problem not being addressed by the present leadership ... there is no economic roadmap to increase growth and employment. Until now, everything is based on the yellow media and false surveys!

WE NOW HAVE 3 MILLION CHILD LABORERS, GUYS!

When you go over your newspaper today, you will find this VERY DEPRESSING revelation:

“As of October 2011, there are 5.49 million working children aged five to 17. More than 55.1 percent or 3.02 million were counted as child labor while 2.99 million are exposed to hazardous form of child labor,” according to Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz.

Adding insult to injury, YOU WON’T FIND any specific measure being done by the Aquino Administration to combat this, either when they assumed power or until last year.

As in NOTHING. Two of the websites you can check out are those of the Phil.  Star and the Inquirer.

Baldoz said anti-child labor programs have been implemented since 1995 and “we have never stopped doing so.”

But she DID NOT CITE EVEN ONE PROGRAM, location or beneficiary (ies) of whatever has been done, if any, by the Aquino Government in the two years of its reign.

Baldoz said the Aquino Administration has started with an initial 80 poor barangays where “we intend to have zero child labor by the end of the year” But she did not name even one barangay and its location, not one detail whatsoever of what was supposedly started.

Baldoz said the Aquino Government’s goal is to reduce child labor in the country by 75 percent in four years.

Let’s do a little math, boys and girls.

Four years is 1,408 days. With 3.02 million child laborers, 75 percent of that would be roughly 2,250,000.

If you divide 2,250,000 by 1,408, the result is more than 1,500.  That means they will have to free MORE THAN 1,500 KIDS DAILY from child labor to achieve their goal.

And yet, Baldoz said they only have an initial 80 barangays, out of the MORE THAN 42,000 NATIONWIDE, to begin with. Two years into the Pnoy presidency and just 80 barangays.

For the sake of the child laborers, I sure hope Baldoz can pull off a miracle.

But one thing I’ll tell you, guys, A COMPREHENSIVE AUDIT of Labor department funds on
child labor eradication is in order.

As soon as possible, and I mean every letter of it.

WHAT'S SCARY ABOUT THE $1-B LOAN TO IMF IS ...

Apart from these, we practically don’t know the following:

First: What exactly is the $77-billion reserve fund for?

Second: Has it been ever used for its purpose? If so, when and for what?  Where are the supporting papers for the disbursement?

Third: Have the people, especially the poor, directly benefitted in any way from the $77-billion? If yes, when and how? If no, why not?

Fourth: Is that fund audited? If yes, when was it last audited and what are the findings? Has there been any official certification from anyone that  no plunder or any other anomaly has been committed so far with the fund?

Fifth: If the fund is not audited, why? What is our guarantee that nothing is being stolen from it?

Sixth: What is the procedure (s) in releasing money from the fund?  Are there built-in steps against theft in handling the money?
So here’s hoping that nobody will take the $1-billion lent to the IMF as lightly as any other daily event.

There could be A DAMN LOT MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE!
