UNTOUCHABLE JUETENG AND ITS REAL DANGER!

I’ve asked it before and I’ll ask it again, with the strongest and most urgent emphasis anyone can imagine:

WHAT MAKES JUETENG UNTOUCHABLE to Pnoy’s government?

Jueteng is still ILLEGAL. Police officials once acknowledged, several years ago, that jueteng is a multi-billion industry.

But in the more than two years that Pnoy has been President,  there has NEVER BEEN A CAMPAIGN against jueteng – NO ARREST OR INVESTIGATION of even one alleged jueteng lord, NO ROUND-THE-CLOCK RAIDS on jueteng dens, no nothing.

As if jueteng does not exist, or has been legalized.

Two days ago and today, I came across news reports of police chiefs in far areas like Pangasinan and the Bicol region being relieved for failing to stop jueteng.

The government went after those who couldn’t supposedly stop jueteng, but it’s NOT DOING ANYTHING against the jueteng lords.

Anti-jueteng advocate retired Archbishop Oscar Cruz once publicly stated there are reports that DILG Undersecretary Rico Puno was allegedly receiving jueteng bribes.

But Pnoy HIMSELF almost IMMEDIATELY cleared Puno, without even ordering a probe.

Malacanang had better not say that there’s no drive against jueteng because there’s no intelligence report about it.

I’m sure the Philippine National Police (PNP) has MOUNTAINS OF REPORTS or data on jueteng and jueteng lords, and will still have the guts to object if they will be made to look INCOMPETENT with such an alibi, if ever.

Pnoy never fails to mention his ‘tuwid na daan’ slogan whenever he can. He tries louder than the loudest bomb blast in proclaiming in as many ways as possible that he is against corruption.

But he seems to suffer partial amnesia when it comes to jueteng, which everybody knows BRIBES CORRUPT POLITICIANS and POLICE OFFICIALS.

Now consider this: Some, if not all, of these corrupt politicians will be running again in next year’s polls. If they can’t run anymore, they’ll ask their spouses, their kids or their henchmen.

Jueteng bribes will help them BUY MORE GUNS AND GOONS.

These guns and goons will be used to hurt, if not kill, anybody who will endanger the victory of the corrupt politician or their bets in next year’s elections.

That anybody can be you, me, members of our family, our relatives and friends or anybody you can think of. And when corrupt politicians win, it’s us ordinary mortals who suffer in a hundred and one ways.

From the theft of our taxes, abuse of power to zero performance in the public office they seek, name it corrupt politicians do it.,

That’s the REAL DANGER of the untouchable jueteng, people. Thin about it.

PNOY'S US, UK TRIPS FOR PLEASURE, PROPAGANDA!

If his report will be the basis, Pnoy’s latest  seven-day tour to the United Kingdom and the US is more of a junket or pleasure trip than a working visit.

The investments he had boasted of having secured during the trip were ALL ANNOUNCED by the concerned companies LONG BEFORE he left for the two countries.

The plan of GN Power Limited of America to build two coal-fired, 300-megawatt power plants in Bataan had been officially revealed since last year.

As early as February this year, Cebu Pacific had commissioned Rolls Royce for the supply of eight Trent 700 engines for the Airbus A330-300 aircraft in its fleet.

Last week, Aboitiz Equity Ventures signed a memorandum of agreement with Gaz Asia Ltd. For the development, construction and operation of plants that will convert organic waste into liquid bio methane.

The United States Agency for International Development (US AID) program to bring the benefits of mobile banking to rural areas has been ongoing g and had been started during the term of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Strictly speaking, the ONLY NEW INVESTMENT Pnoy had brought home was the plan of Underwriters Laboratories Inc. to put up a global technology center in Manila.

But since Pnoy claimed that the investment pledges he had brought home totaled $2.5 billion, then this amount could not be for the Underwriters project alone since it’s just one of the supposed package.

So what $2.5 billion is Pnoy talking about?

What exactly is the reason for his US and UK trips, for which he WASTED P87-MILLION plus of our hard-earned taxes, our monies?

Personally, I can think of two.

First is for Pnoy to have the OPPORTUNITY to BOAST to UK ad US officials and media of his purported accomplishments, especially the ouster of former Chief Justice Renato Corona. (even if it was the Senate who convicted Corona and not him).

He attacked Corona in a gathering in Los Angeles, California, USA remember?’

Second: The trip was an EXTRAVAGANT post celebration of Corona’s conviction. I can’t think of a better adjective for spending P87 million in a week, or more than P12 million a day, for a trip with ONLY ONE NEW INVESTMENT in return. 30

BILLIONS MORE MUST BE ACCOUNTED FOR

The P363.32-billion increase in government debts is just one of two very dangerous signs that must be looked into when it comes to the people’s money.

Keep in mind, people, that collection of HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS of all kinds of taxes and fees have NEVER BEEN SUSPENDED since the Aquino Administration took over.

Income tax, real estate tax, road users’ tax and all the fees one has to pay in the processing of transactions or requests in government offices.

Add to these the BILLIONS in earnings of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), Pagcor and other government-owned or controlled companies.

Plus the income from investments of government agencies like the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) and the Social Security System (SSS),

I may be forgetting others but the bottom line is billions and billions of pesos are earned by government yearly. And we practically have NO IDEA WHERE the bulk of it is going.

It’s only Pnoy (or, in fairness to him, does he) and a select group of officials from the Department of Budget and Management and Cabinet secretaries know.

As I’’ve written several times before, have you seen or heard of any major government infrastructure project, completed or under construction,  funded by Pnoy’s government since he took over as President?

Or any massive purchase of modern equipment or tools for farmers and fishermen to help increase their catch or harvest, or credit programs worth hundreds of millions of pesos which had been disbursed to a majority of them?

Or any other similar pro-poor or pro-people project funded by our taxes? I haven’t. But believe, I’ll be happy to stand corrected.

The only consistent undertaking I hear about from Pnoy’s government is the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) conditional cash transfer program.

But of the supposed tens or hundreds of thousands of people benefited so far by the CCT, we have yet to see even a few thousands of them and the purported improvement brought about by the program to the quality of their life.

I don’t recall any detailed, public breakdown of the hundreds of millions already (or is it billions already) spent on the CCT, as well as names and addresses of the supposed beneficiaries.

But this early, Budget Sec. Butch Abad has bared plans to INCREASE BY P40 BILLION the budget for the CCT next year. That’s right, boys and girls, P40 billion, not million.

On top of all these, you’ve probably heard of or read by now that Pnoy will be asking for a P2 TRILLION, or P2,000 billion, national next year.

No projects or accomplishments, a P363-32 billion increase in government with no solid proof or clear indication where it went, and Pnoy still wants MORE MONEY,  MORE OF OUR TAXES, next year.

GISING, MGA KABABAYAN! TAYO ANG MADURURSA, ANG LALONG MAGHIHIRAP, HINDI SILA!

SAGARANG KAYABANGAN NI PNOY!

In his Independence Day speech, Pnoy said Renato Corona’s ouster as Chief Justice proved that democracy was alive in the country.

The Philippines has always been a DEMOCRATIC COUNTRY. We have NEVER BEEN UNDER COMMUNIST OR SOCIALIST RULE.

We were once under Spanish and Japanese occupation but RESISTANCE MOVEMENTS were always there, until time came that we were freed with foreign assistance.

So NO PROOF IS NECESSARY to show that democracy is alive. NOTHING whatsoever, especially not by Pnoy’s standards.

Pnoy DID NOT BRING DEMOCRACY to the Philippines. He is not the SOLE GAUGE or JUDGE of whether or not democracy is alive or dead. If this is his how he thinks, somebody better bring him to the best psychiatrist in town, quick.

If Pnoy or his boys will insist on Corona’s ouster as proof of democracy being alive, I wonder if they realize that he’s actually INSULTING HIMSELF and not the former Chief Justice in his speech.

Why” In effect, Pnoy is saying that in the two years that he has been president, there has been NO PROOF that democracy is alive and kicking. That he has been that INEFFECTIVE AND INEFFICIENT in proving the existence of democracy in the Philippines.

Strictly speaking, Pnoy should not, and cannot, claim credit , for Corona’s ouster in his speech or in anything and anywhere else.

IIT WAS THE SENATE who ousted Corona, NOT HIM. Unless persistent talk of senators who voted to convict Corona got something in return from him are true.

And not only did Pnoy show the height of his arrogance in his speech, he also INSULTED THE CONSTITUTION.

Pnoy talked about how the Constitution has been his guide since he was still a congressman from Tarlac.

Now, the main job of a congressman is to come up with bills or proposed laws. But in his nine years as congressman, Pnoy authored ONLY NINE bills or ONE bill a year.

If I remember correctly, he also only had nine bills in his three years as a senator.

WHERE DID THE P363.32-B NEW LOANS GO?

Apart from the stunning loss of Manny Pacquiao, here’s another equally infuriating and dangerous development that we must all think about and act on with the same intensity and zeal.

Media reports say the Philippine Government’s total debt has risen to P5.075 trillion, P363.32 billion more than the April 2011 total. The National Treasury says this is due to continuous domestic and foreign borrowings by the government to supplement the budget deficit.

Pnoy’s boys will surely defend themselves by saying that they only inherited the problem form the previous administration. So let’s just focus on the P363.32 billion increase in borrowings form April last year.

Remember, people, two years into the Pnoy Administration and we are yet to see EVEN ONE major infrastructure project, or one NATIONWIDE PRO-POOR program funded and completed with our taxes.

And before anyone points to the conditional cash transfer (CCT) program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) as a key pro-poor program, please be sure to have even a partial audit or breakdown of the disbursements ready.

NEVER has the DSWD given any public accounting of the CCT funds. We have NO GUARANTEE that there has been no anomaly in the disbursement of the hundreds of millions (or is it billions) of pesos it has been getting for the program.

We’re talking of P363.32 billion here, guys, in JUST MORE THAN A YEAR, or more than P30 BILLION A MONTH. We don’t even have an idea on where the money went. But remember, WE WILL PAY for the P363.32 billion with out taxes.

Where are the supposed savings of the Pnoy government and what do they intend to do with it? If it isn’t enough for their projects, WHY?

Most of all, what is the total amount of both domestic and foreign loans incurred by the Pnoy Administration since it assumed power?  And again, where did these monies go?

Let’s join forces in digging up whatever info we can, people.

LET'S SHOW GRACE IN PACQUIAO'S LOSS!

A friendly suggestion, guys:

With Manny Pacquiao’s loss, let’s show to the world that we Filipinos know how to accept defeat.

I am one with our countrymen who find it hard to believe that Pacquiao had lost to Tim Bradley. But whether we like it or not, the match was a contest. And in a contest, it’s the judges who decide who wins.

Much to our regret, two of the three judges chose Bradley over Pacquiao.

Let’s not immediately claim it was a ‘fixed’ fight. Or something to that effect, until indisputable proof is produced by anyone involved in the match.

Anybody correct me if I’m wrong but when Pacquiao won over Marquez, the latter’s camp claimed he was the actual winner but overall, Marquez’s countrymen still accepted his loss.

It’s perfectly alright to express our grief. But in doing so, let’s not give anyone a reason to say something bad against us.

Until wrote this piece, Pacquiao has not aired any suspicions of fraud in the judging.

Flood the website of the World Boxing Organization (WBO) with your sentiments if you want to. Ask your friends and relatives to join you. Any and all protest action s are welcome..

But do it in total civility or professionalism. DON’T give anyone any bullet to shoot us.

Latest reports say both Pacquiao and Bradley are open to a rematch in November. That means  Pacquiao can still do us proud.

It was a very honorable loss for Pacquiao, people.

The three judges had identical scores and the only difference was two of them went for Bradley. But Pacquiao and us Filipinos definitely have NOTHNG to be ashamed of. 30
