Here are some safety reminders for those who will join the
Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) rally at the Luneta.
The moment you arrive at the site, ask the organizers where
is the nearest police outpost or policemen on duty. So that you would know
where to go IMMEDIATELY if something happens.
Be on the lookout for people who are acting suspiciously,
male or female, young or old.
For example, people who are alone but jittery and constantly
looking around; people who tightly hold or hug their bags or packages, then
suddenly put these down somewhere and run;
those with guns but are in civilian clothes and those who arrive as a
group, and then scatter out to different directions.
Report anything UNUSUAL you see, hear or smell, no matter
how insignificant it appears to be. The police would know better.
When you see an abandoned item, don’t even go near it.
Notify the police immediately and the rally organizers to cordon off the spot
where you found it.
If a person turns UNRULY for no clear reason, don’t
overpower him yourself. Report him or her to police or rally organizers. Do the
same thing if he or she provokes you into a fight.
A similar gimmick is two or more people will suddenly start
fighting.
DIVERTING ATTENTION is an old trick of terrorists for them
to carry out their mission and get away with it.
Avoid isolated spots as much as possible.
Sometimes, terrorists or troublemakers are out only to scare
and not kill or hurt as many people as possible. They usually look for areas
with the least, if not zero, possible casualties.
DON’T PANIC if you suddenly hear sounds you suspect to be
gunfire or an explosion. Ask rally organizers for clarification and listen ONLY
to them.
And last but definitely not the least, PRAY HARD so that God
will protect each and everyone in the rally from start to finish.
