SERENO APPOINTMENT ILLOGICAL, LACKS COMMON SENSE!

The appointment of Associate Justice Ma. Lourdes Sereno as the new Supreme Court Chief Justice defies both LOGIC and COMMON SENSE.

First: Sereno was one of two aspirants who got the lowest grades in the PSYCHOLOGICAL evaluation given by the Judicial and Bar Council t(JBC) to all the chief justice nominees.

On a scale of 1 to 5 with 5 as the lowest, Sereno got a grade of 4.  That alone should have been an alarm for her MENTAL STABILITY for ONE OF THE HIGHEST government positions in the country.

A story in The Manila Times.net said copies of the evaluation, which was marked “Strictly Confidential,” were distributed to JBC members during their July 19 preliminary meeting.

The evaluation said Sereno was “dramatic and emotional, projects a happy mood but has depressive markers (and) a strong tendency to make decisions based on CURRENT MOOD. Thus, outcome is HIGHLY SUBJECTIVE and SELF-RIGHTEOUS (emphasis mine).”

Seconjd: Sereno had been a Supreme Court associate justice for ONLY TWO YEARS until she was appointed as Chief Justice by Pnoy. She was appointed only on Aug. 16, 2010.

That means EXPERIENCE-WISE, she was WAY, WAY BEHIND the other senior associate justices like Antonio Carpio when it comes to being a member of the High Tribunal and in handling cases brought before it for action.

I’M NOT SAYING that Sereno’s professionally incompetent to be Chief Justice.

My point is, considering the nature and complexities of the position of Chief Justice, it would have been WISER and MORE LOGICAL to appoint somebody with both the legal brilliance and widest-ranging experience.

Kumbaga sa kumpanya, ang itinalagang bagong chief executive officer ni Pnoy ay isang baguhan sa halip na isang matagal na doon at kasinggaling, kundi man mas magaling pa, sa taong kaniyang pinili.

For sure, both Sereno and Pnoy were AWARE of these factors  And yet, he chose her for Chief Justice.

So other than her vow of independence when she was sworn into office by Pnoy, what’s our assurance that she won’t be a puppet of the President for his desires or needs from the Supreme Court?

Like the reversal of the decision awarding Hacienda Luisita to its farm workers? The floor is yours, ladies and gentlemen.

ABRAZADO HIMSELF MUST EXPLAIN THESE…

Kaduda-duda talaga.

Great post, Mr. Boyet Antonio. For me, kahit saan tingnan, guilty si Abrazado. Conspiracy theory.

JOYCE SALVADOR
Korek.

VIRGILIO HERNANDEZ
And because of the incident, chief inspector na siya.

Ang sabi, si kapitan (Bahinting) nasa kanang upuan ng cockpit nang makita yung plane na submerged under water, triggering speculations that he was not the one manning the aircraft. Ngunit bago magtake off, Bahinting was seen seated on the left. what happened after take off?

The whole incident is apparently as fishy as the deep waters of Masbate.

I smell something fishy here.

Whether or not the body is decomposing; whether it has maggots and worms; or is in whatever state, if the family requests for it, it should be granted. It's the family. It’s their decision. Not mine, not yours, not ours.

How would Mrs. Robredo know that it is indeed her husband in that casket if she couldn't see his body? Even if the brother identified Sec. Robredo upon retrieval, the wife has MORE LEGAL RIGHTS than a BROTHER, or a CO-WORKER.  Cory Aquino allowed Ninoy's bloodied corpse to be viewed by the public. Why couldn't they do the same to the secretary?

Common sense and logic will tell anyone that it is the "right" of the Robredo Family to see the remains of the late secretary.  Robredo's wife is a lawyer and I think she's intelligent enough to know the consequences of such a request. Who is Mar Roxas to decide for the Robredo Family??

Kung ako yun, bubuksan ko pilit ang kabaong maski sumingaw at mangalingasaw sa amoy.

Democracy and rights here in the Phllippines? That would be an epic. 30
